FINAL FURY (SteamVR, Meta Quest) - Kluge Interactive

As a lifelong fan of fighting games (Street Fighter 2 on the Super Nintendo was one of the first games I played growing up!), working on FINAL FURY was like a dream come true. The game takes everything I love about the genre—iconic characters, flashy special moves, and intense combat—and reimagines it for VR, allowing players to step into the arena and feel like part of the action.

As the narrative designer, I created the backstories for each fighter, wrote and directed voice-overs, and developed lore that tied the universe together. Beyond any player-facing narrative elements, I also created reference cards to help the design and art teams quickly understand each character's personality, ensuring a cohesive vision across all aspects of the game.

During development, the game went through some major design changes to refine the camera, character, and controls to elevate the strategic gameplay and deliver a more immersive VR fighting experience. We showcased an early build of the game during Steam Next Fest in October 2024 to gather player feedback, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

November 2022 - December 2024

  • Wrote character backstories, directed voice-over sessions, and developed the overarching lore for the FINAL FURY universe.

  • Created character reference cards to ensure a cohesive vision for the design and art teams.

  • Developed a galaxy map for the art team to use as a visual reference when creating new arenas.

  • Contributed to game design documents, providing narrative context and personality insights for each character.

  • Wrote UI text and helped design the first iterations of the tutorial in collaboration with the UX team.

  • Collaborated with the marketing team to launch the official website, writing copy and scripts for trailers.
